Barry's site visit with Pamela Chui at Mt. San Antonio College

Here's Pamela putting final touches on her project plan! It's a good plan, too!  The non-credit ESL department at Mt. San Antonio College recently acquired a set of iPads for use in instruction, but they're so new to the department that not everyone has been trained on best practices for incorporating them into instruction. Pamela's project has two major components: 1) working with two mentees on a one-to-one basis during the course of the year as they learn about the iPads and using them with students, and 2) working with a small group of teachers who already have used iPads in instruction to create a collaborative wiki where lesson plans and lesson ideas can be shared amongst the staff.

Technology Specialist Hannan Kakish demonstrating the "checkout" procedure the ESL department has implemented. Students checkout the iPads with their goverment IDs.  Hannan also keeps the iPads and computers in the computer lab up-to-date and in good working order. She also checks to make sure that any websites to be visited during a class session are accessible and that any software used by the classes is working properly.
Pamela and the other non-credit ESL staff get great support from Margaret Teske, the ESL Instructional Support Manager and Past President of CATESOL.
