Bethany's Site Visit with Joel Vilanova at Learning Quest Stanislaus Literacy Center

I visited Joel Vilanova at Learning Quest Stanislaus Literacy Center in Modesto on November 18th. He'd already done a tremendous amount of work on his TIMAC project, so we spent most of our visit refining his objectives and clarifying his goals.

Joel will be working with 10 mentee teachers at 5 sites to bring blended learning to the ABE/ASE classroom. Joel will help his mentees incorporate at least one adaptive software program into their classes on a weekly basis. Teachers will choose from the following three programs: Khan Academy, ReadTheory, and TypingWeb to help their students with math, reading or typing. Joel had already provided an initial training on each program prior to my visit and will be supporting his mentees over the course of the year as they incorporate their selected program.

Joel is off to a great start and I look forward to supporting him over the course of his project.
